How you’ll help us make health happen:

As an experienced underwriter with a corporate pricing background, you’ll play a vital role in leading the relationship between pricing and our regional stakeholders, specifically finance and commercial.

You’ll price Corporate international private medical insurance (IPMI) groups within agreed guidelines and with an appreciation of their individual risk characteristics.

Accountabilities & Activities:

• Lead and manage relationships with internal and external customers, particularly Account Managers.
• Support Account Managers in face-to-face client meetings where appropriate.
• Present pricing proposals to face-to-face client and/or broker meetings when new business or renewal prices require detailed explanation.
• Lead the relevant Bupa relationships with Senior leaders and sales team members.
• Responsible for pricing future-period subscriptions of each group within IPMI portfolios.
• Analyse and interpret historic claims experience to enable accurate forecasting of future claiming patterns.
• Perform analysis to calculate group-specific loadings and discounts based on a client’s risk profile.
• Interpret changes to membership or benefit profiles that may influence future risk trends.
• Make commercial decisions within an agreed framework and adhere to the published commercial escalation process.
• Negotiate and justify pricing decisions to key stakeholders.
• Enhance customers’ understanding of pricing processes and methodologies.
• Maintain a thorough audit trail on decisions and reasoning for each price completed.
• Act as a designated point of escalation for a specific Product line/region.
• Support the Pricing Delivery Team Leader to recruit, manage, train, and motivate staff.
• Ensure the pricing system infrastructure is robust and fit for purpose.
• Lead on relevant ad-hoc pricing projects.
• Deputise for the Pricing Delivery Team Leader in their absence.

Key Skills / Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance, Statistics, Actuarial or related field with at least 5 years post-qualification relevant experience.
• Proven numerical skills with an appreciation of actuarial, medical, and statistical issues relating to pricing.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, SAS, Power BI, etc.
• Ability to forecast changing trends at individual group level and identify appropriate pricing solutions.
• Proven success in communicating with and influencing stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the end-to-end process of setting insurance prices.
• Experience of commercial decision making with strong customer focus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Objective, analytical, and lateral thinking with a proactive mindset.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty.
