The team supports the Group Chief Actuary and Capital Officer in delivering the actuarial activities of his role. Reporting to the Life Economic Capital Life Lead, you’ll be supporting Aviva’s Internal Model, supporting the team accountable for risk calibrations and providing support for capital requirements methodology more widely.  You will be involved in the review of proposal arising from the Group Actuarial Function team and support the Finance team in implementing the methodology.The role also involves advising key stakeholders and senior management from the Finance teams, the Investment team, the Pricing teams, the Annuity Asset Origination team and Group team as to the capital requirements implications of business activity and emerging methodology. This role would suit a technically minded Actuary who enjoys clearly communicating complexity to a range of stakeholders across the business and beyond.As part of this role, you will need to be comfortable in assessing key information from stakeholders and deciding the relevance and materiality to our capital calibrations. The calibrations we deal with are of a technical actuarial nature and the Internal Model is worth several £bn to Aviva. These calibrations often need to be communicated to senior management, including the Board Risk Committee, and the regulator, and this role plays a vital role in supporting this.Key aspects of role:The work required is of a technical actuarial nature, primarily relating to all aspects of the calculation of the Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) and the wider balance sheet components required under Solvency II rules. This is a 12-month fixed term contract role.  We welcome applications for full and part time hours.We’re looking for a qualified actuary (or accountant) with proven post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a large insurance company environment, to lead one or more capital projects/investigations or parts of larger projects, on a 12-month fixed term contract basis.We are currently exploring ways to simplify our With-Profits Funds and products and assessing other potential future capital optimisation initiatives for the UK Life business such as longevity hedging.
