General Description of Role:

We are looking for a highly capable individual with a strong level of interest in technology and demographic & risk modelling, innovative approaches to problem-solving, and an unerring commitment to quality.

You’ll help us deliver the pension scheme longevity modelling software which enables us to provide the highest quality advice to our clients.

The Demographic Horizons team supports Aon's entire UK consultant base, as well as having global connections, particularly in the Netherlands, Canada, and the US. This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on the wider business.

Job Responsibilities:

As a member of our development team, your responsibilities are likely to involve:

  • Maintaining and developing code for Demographic Horizons, Aon’s longevity consulting models, including:
    • Base mortality modelling for the UK and other countries
    • Scheme-specific mortality improvements model
    • Dependants modelling (proportion married and age difference)
  • Running development projects, e.g., creating and managing project plans, overseeing the calculations and tests which ensure new mortality tables are correctly uploaded to Aon’s systems
  • Developing less experienced team members including delegation of work, reviewing their work, and providing on-the-job feedback and coaching
  • We will help you to develop specialist knowledge and enhance your programming skills within a highly supportive team environment

Skills/Competencies Required:

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • 5+ years of working experience in programming, preferably in C#
  • Strong technical skills in Excel including knowledge in VBA
  • Experience running and delivering projects
  • Able to encourage and develop other colleagues, and work well within diverse teams
  • Able to develop solutions to open-ended challenges whilst having an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
