Pricing Actuary (P&C)
About the Role
As a P&C Pricing Actuary, you'll be at the intersection of mathematical modelling and business decision-making. You will provide actuarial expertise that supports underwriting decisions for complex facultative risks.
Your analytical skills will help shape our pricing models, methodologies, and portfolio insights, contributing directly to sound underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and maintain pricing models and actuarial parameters, including trend assumptions, frequency and severity models, and rating factors.
- Prepare technical actuarial documentation and user guides. Support the implementation of model and parameter updates into production underwriting systems through rigorous testing and impact assessments.
- Analyze Actual vs. Expected performance to identify opportunities for model improvements.
- Take ownership of the actuarial pricing for complex facultative reinsurance deals, determining technical pricing and supporting underwriters with structuring expertise.
- Contribute to continuous improvements of pricing methodologies and actuarial processes.
- Support the development of colleagues by coaching interns, graduates, and colleagues on job rotations.
About the Team
The Global Specialty & Single Risk Costing team is part of Swiss Re's P&C Re Costing organisation. We develop and maintain pricing models that support facultative underwriters globally across Property and Casualty business.
Our responsibilities include pricing model development, Actual vs. Expected analyses, and actuarial advice for complex deals. Our team is based across Europe and Asia, bringing together actuarial expertise, technical excellence, and close collaboration with underwriting.

About You
You're a curious and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems and collaborating across disciplines. You can communicate technical concepts clearly to both actuarial and non-actuarial audiences.
You are motivated to continuously develop your actuarial and technical expertise.
We're looking for someone with:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Physics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- More than 5 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance in a quantitative role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- A strong interest in pursuing (or continuing) an actuarial qualification.
- The ability to translate underwriting, risk engineering, economic, and policy wording considerations into actuarial models and pricing assumptions.
- Skill in explaining actuarial techniques in simple terms and training others on costing methods and tools.
Nice to have:
- Experience working in an agile scrum setup.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or leading small initiatives.
- Independence, pro-activity, initiative, outspoken, transparent communication.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
