Aviva Canada is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Claims Analytics team within Finance. The applicant will work in a dynamic environment and gain exposure across a broad spectrum of actuarial and data science disciplines, while also working directly with the business and the operations.

What you’ll do:
- Build, clean, transform and analyze operational Claims data, tying with financial results to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Deliver insights and recommendations to optimize claims operations and influence Claims initiatives.
- Automate workflow in our data science platform to increase efficiency and ensure accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to accurately pay what we owe in claims indemnity and reduce expense to drive better financial results.
- Conduct competitive analysis by benchmarking our performance against the industry and identify areas where we can gain competitive advantage.
- Collaborate and build close relationships with company-wide partners in various departments, including Claims, Corporate Actuarial, Pricing, Data Science, Underwriting and Risk.
What you’ll bring:
- Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
- Actively pursuing actuarial exams with a minimum of 3-5 exams completed.
- Strong team player who is also able to work independently.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent work ethic with a commitment to delivering results.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.
What makes you stand out:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Python and SQL.
What you’ll get:
- The salary band for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
