Description and Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Valuation & Financial Modelling
- Own end-to-end actuarial models and valuation outputs (IFRS 17, local GAAP, projections).
- Lead model development, enhancement, and governance (Prophet, VBA/Python).
- Provide expert judgment on methodologies, assumptions, and results to Line Manager/Appointed Actuary.
Reporting & Financial Insights
- Own actuarial reporting deliverables with accountability on quality and timelines, including MOF, Regional Office, and Auditors.
- Delivery valuation results under Local statutory frameworks and IFRS 17 (if any). Translating results into clear insights, key drivers, and business implications.
- Implementing and maintaining Risk-Based Capital (RBC) requirements, provide independent recommendations to Line Manager/AA/CRO.
Business Planning & Analysis
- Contribute to business plan projection exercises and financial analysis.
- Lead experience analysis and assumption setting (e.g., mortality, lapse, expenses).
- Monitor and analyze key business metrics such as premium persistency, deliver forward-looking insights and actionable recommendations to optimize business outcomes.
Product & System Development
- Lead actuarial involvement in product implementation and system enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance and sign-off on modelling approaches.
- Partner with Product and IT as a key technical advisor.
Actuarial Operations & Risk Monitoring
- Own key actuarial processes (ALM analysis, liquidity testing, fund split, expense studies).
- Interpret results and highlight financial and risk implications.
- Identify issues and proactively recommend actions.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Engage directly with senior stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Product, IT).
- Provide independent actuarial perspective and challenge where appropriate.
- Influence decisions through data-driven insights and clear recommendations.
Team Development & Technical Leadership
- Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior team members.
- Act as subject matter expert in actuarial areas.
- Contribute to strengthening team capability and best practices.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:
Technical/Professional Competency Requirements:
- Strong actuarial background with advanced modelling capability.
- Proficient in Excel, Access, VBA, Python, Prophet.
- Solid knowledge of financial & actuarial specific terms, knowledge of IFRS 17 is priority.
- Well understanding of valuation & local regulation for Life insurance.
Core Competency Requirements:

- Language: fluent in English.
Qualification and Experience Requirement:
- Education: University graduate in actuary professional; or university graduate in applied mathematics/mathematics & information technology. Master/PhD Degree in Actuarial Science or in applied mathematics.
- Years of working experience: at least 7 years.
