GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
Assist consultants and other stakeholders for US/Canada Health and Benefits domain, delivering high complexity actuarial valuations for clients using ProVal software and other actuarial processes.
Develop client-specific knowledge to deliver on the valuation and other consulting support services. Develop your understanding of the wider context and key primary drivers of the results.
Demonstrate a very good understanding of all aligned processes and be able to mentor and provide insights to clients.
The process involves analysis of healthcare products data provided by vendors and onshore consultants pertaining to premium, claims, and plan attributes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate as part of a team under the supervision of Sr. Actuarial Specialist/Actuarial – Operations Manager.
- Develop client-specific knowledge to deliver on the valuation and other consulting support services.
- Ensure compliance and drive usage of various processes, templates, and compliance guidelines.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of all aligned processes and mentor clients.
- Maintain and build learning resources for the team, such as best practices sharing or training materials.
- Complete straightforward valuations independently and some complex valuations with oversight.
- Prioritize valuations and other process work independently.
- Help junior colleagues develop their skill set.
- Volunteer for at least one special project.
- Communicate valuation results.
- Document own work and prompt documentation of work done by others.
- Ensure work is complete and thorough, requiring minimal review.
- Complete non-standard valuations with instructions from AM/PM.
- Efficiently complete valuations accurately and within time constraints.
- Utilize resources efficiently.
- Proficient in VBA.
- Participate in onshore calls and share insights with the team.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Graduate, numerate degree preferred such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering.
- Active student member of the Institute of Actuaries, UK/India and preferably cleared at least three core technical actuarial exams.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Well-versed with basic tool functionalities for creating, editing, and formatting presentations.
- Business communication skills and fluent in English.
- Flexible, accountable, and collaborative approach with colleagues.
