Your new role

This role combines core reserving responsibility with broader actuarial advisory and project work across QBE’s Business & Consumer portfolio, helping drive stronger insights, better decision-making, and portfolio performance.

You will:

  • Deliver key components of the quarterly reserving process for specialty products, ensuring robust analysis, consistency, and alignment to agreed standards.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate clear, well-structured insights to both senior and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide actuarial advice to support the business, including analysis of large commercial accounts, renewals, and input into commercial terms such as profit-sharing arrangements.
  • Enhance segmentation across policyholder and claims dimensions, strengthen reserving assumptions, contribute actuarial input into pricing for large commercial accounts, and develop claims initiative measurement and tracking.
  • Support strategic projects across one or more B&C products, including portfolio transactions, scenario modelling, and participation in cross-functional working groups.
  • Contribute to improving end-to-end understanding of portfolio performance across B&C products by bringing insights from pricing, capital, reinsurance, and broader AUSPAC strategy.

About You

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Qualified actuary, or close to qualification, with strong general insurance reserving experience across property and casualty classes.
  • Deep technical capability, with the ability to apply sound actuarial judgement to complex problems.
  • Exposure to pricing, reserving, or portfolio analytics within commercial lines is highly regarded.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear business insights.
  • Proactive, commercially minded, and driven to improve outcomes through continuous improvement.
  • Experience using actuarial and data tools such as R, Python, SAS, or similar, with an innovative and creative mindset.
