The opportunity

Due to an internal movement, we’re looking for an Actuarial Analyst who is keen to grow their career with QBE. You’ll provide actuarial valuation and portfolio support across our Short Tail and Long Tail products, including Farm, Commercial Packages, and Standalone Liability.

Your new role

In this role, you’ll support reserving, reporting, and portfolio monitoring, turning data into clear insights that inform decisions across the business. You’ll partner closely with Actuarial Managers and Senior Analysts, contribute to portfolio performance and profitability, and help improve tools and processes over time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the end-to-end quarterly reserving process for Liability products, including statutory reporting.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and build sustainable monitoring tools that provide actionable portfolio insights.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and uplift reserving tools/platforms to improve efficiency and the quality of insights.
  • Support the development of junior analysts from the wider team through guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with stakeholders across underwriting, claims, finance and the wider business to deliver reporting and analysis that supports reserving and profitability monitoring.

About you

  • Curious and open-minded, with a positive approach to change.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline).
  • Progress toward Actuaries Institute accreditation (e.g., Part II completion and/or working toward Part III).
  • Reserving experience in General Insurance (highly desirable).
  • Strong analytical skills, with Excel required and SAS/R experience beneficial.
  • Confident communicator who can explain analysis and recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
