Description and Requirements
Role Summary
The role supports actuarial valuation and financial reporting activities for Asia life insurance businesses across multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks. The incumbent will work closely with local offices, finance, and global stakeholders to deliver accurate reserve calculations, IFRS 17 reporting, and related actuarial analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform US GAAP, US STAT, and Local Statutory valuations for life insurance products
- Support IFRS 17 reporting, including ongoing reporting and implementation / enhancement activities
- Assist with risk-based capital, solvency regime, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Conduct experience studies (mortality, lapse, expenses, etc.) and support assumption setting
- Analyze and explain movements in reserves and financial results
- Prepare and maintain actuarial documentation, methodologies, and audit support materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, IT, and external consultants
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of actuarial outputs
Key Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of reserving and valuation concepts
- Solid knowledge of cashflows, financial statements, and insurance accounting
- Good understanding of IFRS 17 principles and reporting framework
- Prophet user experience preferred (model development experience is not mandatory)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Professional Skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High level of integrity and professional judgment
- Takes ownership and accountability for deliverables
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to clearly explain technical results to non-technical stakeholders
Qualification & Experience
- 1 to 2 years of actuarial experience
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Progress toward actuarial qualification preferred
- Prior experience in life insurance valuation or reporting is an advantage
