Senior Actuary (L&H Reserving)
Job Description
This dynamic role within SCOR’s North Asia L&H Reserving team has a strong focus on delivering IFRS 17 and Solvency II results for SCOR’s business in Korea and Japan. As a senior member, you will lead key valuation activities, mentor junior team members, and play a pivotal role in transforming reserving processes and systems.
You will take ownership of change initiatives, including evolving reporting frameworks, driving automation, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to enhance efficiency and insight.
In addition, you will support the Head of L&H North Asia Reserving across a broad range of valuation activities—covering IFRS 17, Solvency II, local statutory bases, stress testing, and assumption reviews. This role offers significant autonomy and responsibility, including leading strategic projects and engaging with stakeholders across the SCOR Group to communicate results and influence decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Review and production of IFRS, Solvency II, and local statutory results for the North Asia market.
- Perform the analysis of change for various reporting bases.
- Review of experience analysis and setting assumptions.
- Liaise closely with local Technical Accounting team, Pricing, and IFM to review baseline estimates.
- Lead the actuarial audit process and relationships with local auditors.
- Maintain high-quality documentation and controls for reporting processes.
- Review existing processes and tools to identify opportunities to streamline and automate.
- Work to provide quality output and value-adding insights to results.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the group, based in Singapore, Cologne, Paris, and Dublin.
- Ensure Prophet User Acceptance Testing is performed well with appropriate documentation.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance working in a reserving or actuarial modelling context.
- Qualified/part-qualified actuary or bachelor's degree in actuarial science, maths, engineering, or equivalent quantitative field.
- Knowledge of actuarial modelling platforms (Prophet, AXIS, or equivalent); Prophet expertise is a definite advantage.
- Experience in programming tools such as Python or SQL is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Life and Health (re)insurance and reserving practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience in leading projects, workstreams, and/or teams; collaborating with stakeholders in a global context.
