Actuarial Analyst

Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies, globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management, among other functions. Within AIG Actuarial, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage and mitigate risk.
How you will create an impact
Vietnam roles and responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting up terms and conditions and pricing of insurance products.
- Annual assessment & review of pricing assumptions vs. actual for each product.
- Quarterly and annually sign off report on premium and GOE of each business line.
- Responsible for setting technical reserve and report to MOF quarterly and annually.
- Solvency calculation and sign off the solvency calculation report to MOF quarterly and annually.
- Written report to CEO and Board any issue that potentially impacts the Company’s finance status and make proposal to remedy the issue.
- In case the issue imposes a potential breach to the solvency of the Company, written report to MOF within 5 working days since the date the issue is identified.
- Assessment of the Reinsurance programs (treaties and facultative) before proposing to the Board and CEO for approval.
- Certify that material insurance risks are being transferred under the reinsurance contracts.
- Timely report to the Board any risk that may adversely impact the Company’s finance status.
- Work with ERM to perform stress testing, risk modelling, and prepare risk management report.
- Work with Finance to separate owner’s fund with premium fund in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Sign off quarterly report on this matter to MOF.
- Assessment of claims payment by the Company.
- Quarterly and annually, written report to the Board and CEO on:
- Finance results of the Company.
- Projection of the finance results.
- Investment results which specify any risk incident / issue; making proposal on the asset to be invested, and investment duration of each kind of asset as to ensure asset and liability matching.
- Actual vs. forecast loss ratio; technical reserve; and production.
- Annual self-assessment on Actuary responsibilities and report to MOF within 90 days after the end of a fiscal year.
Additional regional responsibilities:
- Take ownership of Thailand local stat reserving, including valuation, analysis and reporting, with support from the actuarial analyst.
- Perform US GAAP reserving quarter close for assigned markets for personal lines business, ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to group standards.
- Peer review DVR results, carry out any side analyses needed.
- Actively participate in regional actuarial initiatives and transformation projects, including process improvement, data enhancement, and cross-market collaboration.
What you’ll need to succeed
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science.
- Being an Associate member of a society / institute.
- The ability to work under your own initiative, meet tight deadlines and prioritize your work.
