What the day will look like

You will translate complex model outputs into clear, actionable insights to support client results, strategy, and capital decisions.

Using deep expertise across natural perils models and actuarial techniques, our analysts don’t just run numbers – they push the boundaries of what the models can do.

By creatively overcoming data gaps and model limitations, they deliver a powerful, end‑to‑end view of each client’s portfolio and its true risk profile.

Constantly connected to all leading modelling firms, the team is at the forefront of industry change as it embraces emerging technologies, advanced analytics, and automation to continuously enhance the speed, accuracy, and impact of their insights for clients.

Key responsibilities include -

  • Translating complex technical findings into clear insights and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing effective working relationships with internal and external clients; including managing client projects with overseas catastrophe modelling teams
  • Working with modelled outputs to determine suitable reinsurance strategies to mitigate all sources of loss (catastrophe, risk and attritional).
  • Refining catastrophe models and outputs by analysing clients’ historical data and latest scientific research.
  • Actively contributing to advanced analytics, climate and natural perils advisory projects.

How this opportunity is different

Work at the intersection of the science, risk and business with a direct impact on the management of natural hazards for our clients in Australia and New Zealand.

Together with our actuaries and brokers, our catastrophe team helps clients navigate the challenges of natural peril risk.

This includes support for client reinsurance placements and optimising risk transfer strategies, plus on-going research into climate trends and catastrophe model adjustments.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Comfortable in client-facing, collaborative, consulting environment with excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • The ability to work well within a team, a curious mindset and strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience interpreting catastrophe modelling outputs and deliverables (preferred)
  • Insurance or reinsurance experience
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Self-discipline to manage own workflow and deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong a working knowledge of MS Word, SQL and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Python, R, Tableau or AI tools such as databricks, an advantage but not essential
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field of study – natural sciences, engineering, actuarial science, mathematics or statistics
