The Opportunity
MetLife’s US Actuarial Development Program (ADP) focuses on developing future leaders of MetLife who will create innovative business solutions based on actuarial principles and contribute to the success of the company.
As part of the professional development process, participants (known as “actuarial students”) are expected to rotate to new actuarial assignments approximately every two years within core areas of MetLife’s businesses.
Work experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries and knowledgeable in several areas of actuarial practice. Such areas of practice may include product development, pricing, valuation, actuarial modeling, risk management, asset liability management, finance, investments, underwriting, emerging actuarial issues, technology, data analysis, and auditing.
This actuarial position will play an integral role on the Risk Solutions pricing team within Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The successful candidate will support the quantitative analysis in pricing and closing in alignment with MetLife’s enterprise strategy.
The role will support the pricing of new business transactions within Risk Solutions with the main focus on Corporate & Bank Owned Life Insurance. The role will work closely with all RIS business and functional partners, including actuarial, investments, operations, legal, risk, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis of pricing metrics including return on investment, value of new business, and capital deployed
- Engagement with business leaders to discuss and confirm pricing strategies and approaches
- Financial modeling of liability cashflow, reserve, asset return, and capital projection
- Sensitivity analysis across various financial and mortality scenarios
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve pricing for the Risk Solutions products
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries
- 3+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance
- Strong skills using Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience pricing on life insurance products
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment
Location Expectation
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position is $97,400 - $129,800. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
