About the role
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Hong Kong Taiwan Actuarial and Regional Casualty Pricing Actuarial team based in Hong Kong. Key responsibilities include:
- Pricing & Profitability:
- Lead regional casualty pricing activities, including large account pricing, portfolio profitability assessment, and data-driven analytics across multiple markets.
- Contribute to the development, enhancement, and testing of pricing models and rating tools.
- Provide technical pricing support and guidance to underwriters and business stakeholders.
- Data & Analytics:
- Work extensively with complex, high-volume datasets to generate actionable insights that inform business decisions.
- Demonstrate strong data manipulation skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement in process efficiency and analytical capabilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Actively engage with business stakeholders to steer the portfolio toward target growth and profitability objectives.
- Translate analytical insights into clear recommendations that influence underwriting, pricing, and strategic decisions.
- Partner closely with countries and regional underwriting teams.
- Reserving Support:
- Assist with Hong Kong and Taiwan reserving matters, including quarterly and annual reviews, local regulatory requirements, and group reporting.
What we are looking for:
- Professional Qualifications:
- ACAS designation attained, or higher (FCAS preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the actuarial field, with demonstrated expertise in reserving and pricing.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, and VBA.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, R, and Python (required).
- Experience working with large datasets and building analytical frameworks.
- Core Competencies:
- Effective time and project management skills with ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across different areas of the business.
- Demonstrated ownership mindset and commitment to continuous process improvement.
