What you'll be doing

Provide actuarial technical support to the Commercial Direct P&U team and work with the Pricing Profitability team to produce the Pricing Best Estimate (PBE) and POS (Possible Outcome Scenarios).

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support quarterly reviews of the PBE and POS for all Commercial Lines products.
  • Produce reports and manage stakeholders for quarterly PBE sign‑off.
  • Lead risk model calibration, incorporating inflation and evolving risk trends.
  • Partner with Reserving, Claims and Pricing teams to reflect emerging loss trends in projections.
  • Collaborate with the Modelling team to enhance value through shared data and methodologies.
  • Maintain and improve data quality for PBE/POS projections, working closely with Data & MI teams.
  • Enhance modelling and projection efficiency through continuous process improvement.
  • Deliver pricing and underwriting projects on schedule.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and suggest improvements.
  • Develop understanding of pricing, underwriting systems, market trends and industry issues.
  • Identify and manage risks in line with the company risk framework, raising issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, governance controls, and audit actions.

What you'll need:

  • Background in a commercial lines general insurance product such as motor, PET or home (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data quality and visualisation principles.
  • Confident presenter with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and translate technical language to stakeholders.
  • Effective communicator able to build relationships and offer constructive challenge.
  • Knowledge of Alteryx, Python, reserving methods and data modelling (preferred).
  • Strong data manipulation skills; advanced SAS, Excel (including VBA) and SQL beneficial.
  • Experience in a similar analytical or data‑driven role is desirable but not essential.
  • Either part qualified or working towards actuarial qualifications.
