Required Education and Certifications:
- Graduation in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or any other relevant actuarial background
- Member of any recognized Actuarial Society like IAI, IFOA or SOA, actively pursuing actuarial exam or a qualified actuary
Required Years of Experience:
- Relevant industry knowledge and minimum work experience of 6 years (Employee Benefits, Retirement and Health Benefits preferably)
General Description of Role:
Manages end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring all deliverables are completed timely as per scope of work. Leverages junior colleagues to complete different projects.
Operates as expert scrutineer and subject matter expert on Valuation, Accounting, GMP equalisation, and Data solution team.
Leads various training initiatives and mentors expert checkers to help them become starter scrutineers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Readiness for the role as per the Retirement career path/skill blocks.
- Understand client needs and accommodate any known preferences.
- Explain the limitations and impact of any approximations made regarding the purpose of the calculations.
- Demonstrate a high level of forward-thinking and proactivity, planning ahead for known pieces of work and prompting action where necessary.
- Maintain a positive attitude in dealing with changes, reacting to them in a calm, professional manner and actively seeking solutions to any problems that might arise.
- Adopt a business-friendly writing style when communicating with UK colleagues and drafting advice for clients.
- Prepare original materials (letters, reports, discussion guides) for the lead actuary, including the first draft of commentary on results.
- Fully understand UK pensions legislation and work as an expert scrutiniser on all major work types – Actuarial Valuation, Accounting, Consulting support services, GMP equalisation.
- Ability to stand back from detailed calculations, sense-check, draw conclusions, and see the work in a broader context of the client's needs and the legislative framework.
- Answer client questions without reliance on the lead actuary and serve as a strong backup to the lead actuary.
- Ensure own work and the work of junior colleagues is complete and thorough, requiring minimal review from the lead actuary.
- Identify and implement improvements to various processes.
- Champion new ideas and initiatives that deliver strategic results.
- Plan and execute technical meetings and training as per the team's requirements for the Individual Contributor roles.
- Create an open, collaborative, and engaging team environment.
- Build and maintain a network of stakeholders, including appropriate decision-makers, and represent the India team in various forums.

- Understand the professional requirements and quality standards for UK work.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- An expert in one or more of the specialist areas – valuation, accounting, client extension work, risk & modelling, GMP equalisation, cash equivalent transfer value – with a general understanding of all work and the ability to adapt to new tasks.
