Actuary (Experience Analysis)

Role Overview

The role will drive experience studies, analysis, assumptions, and assumption assessment on the US Experience Analysis team. A strong Life actuarial background with knowledge in predictive analytic approaches is required to deepen SCOR’s knowledge of mortality and lapse risks. You will integrate traditional and data analytic approaches for this analysis.

You will also participate in overall enhancements to SCOR’s continuous development of our assumption knowledge base and capability. There will be involvement in ongoing new business and data integration efforts, supporting the broader organization including the Inforce team, Finance, Reserving, Knowledge, and other areas such as Sales, as needed.

Support for advancing SCOR’s thought leadership within the organization and for industry publications and meetings is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Apply traditional and predictive analytic views to emerging mortality, persistency, and other experience required to meet key strategic and organizational needs.
  • Continuous enhancement of assumptions and methods.
  • Annual deep dive and assumption assessments.
  • Work across the organization to understand drivers of the experience and enhance analytical capabilities, including enhancing the use of predictive analytics, data science, or other statistical analysis.
  • Support new business activities.
  • Advance SCOR’s recognition among the actuarial community by providing leading-edge analysis of industry studies or SCOR’s mortality insight.
  • Optimize processes and tools to enhance procedures and approaches.

Qualifications

  • Fellow of the Society Of Actuaries (FSA) or strong ASA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Individual Life and annuity industry, Group Life, reinsurance, or a related field.
  • Preferred candidate with experience in advanced analytics.
  • Experienced at working with large datasets and database software, such as SQL.
  • Experience with R and/or Python is desired but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards in the Individual Life and annuity sector.

Work Policy

SCOR is committed to an "in office" culture where people can collaborate, exchange ideas, and establish stronger working relationships while still providing flexibility. SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely.

Pay Range

Pay range for roles performed in NC & KC: $139,000-$170,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including location, experience, role, and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and short- and long-term incentives.
