Pricing Actuary (P&C)

About the Role

As a P&C Pricing Actuary, you'll be at the intersection of mathematical modeling and business decision-making, providing critical actuarial insights that drive our underwriting success. Your analytical skills will help shape our approach to risk assessment and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review costing models and parameters, including rate calibrations, trend factors, and frequency/severity models.
  • Implement and validate parameter and model updates in productive underwriting systems with thorough quality assurance.
  • Monitor and analyze rating model accuracy on a portfolio level and prioritize necessary updates.
  • Provide expert advice on actuarial and structuring aspects for complex facultative deals to underwriters worldwide.
  • Coach and mentor temporary staff, such as interns and colleagues on job rotations.

About the Team

The Actuarial Services P&C team is an integral part of the Underwriting Excellence Department. We operate in three key areas: developing robust pricing models for underwriters, conducting Actual versus Expected analysis, and leading rate reviews for property and casualty business at the industry level.

We also oversee methods and tools used for facultative property and casualty business pricing. As the go-to experts for actuarial advice, we perform risk assessments for complicated facultative deals worldwide and sensitive lines of business.

Our global team spans Europe, Asia, and North America, with all communication conducted exclusively in English.

About You

You're an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills who can translate complex actuarial concepts into understandable insights for diverse stakeholders. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to grow your actuarial expertise while contributing to our team's success.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent quantitative/statistical fields and/or actuarial qualifications.
  • 1-4 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance in a quantitative role.
  • Proficient English communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Programming skills in Python, Power BI, R, or SQL.
  • Intent to pursue actuarial qualification. Ability to translate non-actuarial concepts from underwriters, risk engineers, or wording specialists into actuarial models.
  • Skill in explaining actuarial techniques in simple terms and training others on costing methods and tools.

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience working in an agile scrum setup.
  • Additional language skills beyond English.
  • Basic leadership experience.

The base salary range for this position is between 69,000 EUR and 115,000 EUR for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity, and responsibilities of the role.
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills, and experience.

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
