The opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career Actuarial professional to join one of Australia’s leading insurers in the role of Junior Actuarial Analyst. You will work across short and long-tail products within the NZ and Pacific portfolios.

Join the dynamic Actuarial team at QBE, where you'll gain broad exposure to the full reserving process and develop a strong understanding of the frameworks that underpin actuarial valuation, reporting, and regulatory obligations.

Your new role

As a Junior Actuarial Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Actuarial Senior Manager to perform end-to-end reserving work for various products
  • Perform monthly BAU tasks and other actuarial analysis as required
  • Be the ‘go-to person’ for data analysis and support to senior Actuarial professionals, enabling the team to provide meaningful insights to the business
  • Continuously seek process improvement and be part of the QBE Actuarial modernization journey
  • Be involved in the development of a new automated reserving model, with the opportunity to apply and grow your technical skills in SQL and VBA.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent relevant disciplines
  • A keen interest in expanding your Actuarial knowledge and looking to take the next step in your career with a leading global insurer known for providing career development and progression opportunities
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills and an ability to generate outside-of-the-box creative solutions
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to liaise with stakeholders at varying levels across the business
  • While not essential, familiarity with SQL, VBA, and Python would be advantageous
