Purpose: To support Just’s ambitious growth plans, we are recruiting a DB Pricing Actuary to join our DB (Defined Benefit) Pricing team. The role will involve supporting the DB team in their objectives to deliver a market leading Bulk Annuity service and grow in line with our business plan.

Job Role Accountabilities:

• Be a key member of the DB Pricing team and ensure that new business quotations are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
• Manage projects and project teams, proactively driving them forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
• Have an area of specialism within the team or be a subject matter expert and share that expertise by providing insights, supporting decision making and enhancing processes and accuracy.
• Develop a deep technical and operational knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB.
• Continuously look for areas where we can improve, integrating technology into daily tasks and processes to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Provide support in ad hoc tasks such as data analysis, proposition developments, systems testing and process improvements.
• Take the lead on these tasks and seek out opportunities to contribute to the wider DB team and the Group.
• Be curious, proactive and open to new ideas, demonstrating a track record of adapting to change, embracing technology, and showing resilience in the face of obstacles.
• Develop strong technical skills, for example by learning new coding languages, to support the development of models, tools and processes in the team.
• Proactively promote a culture of collaboration and engagement within the DB Pricing team, setting an example for junior team members and helping with coaching/training.
• Work closely and collaborate with our DB Reinsurance and Commercial teams to ensure effective delivery of competitive, market leading propositions.
• Be self-reliant and proactive in solving problems when faced with challenges, using available resources and knowing when to ask for help.
• Conduct line management responsibilities where necessary.

Examples of Key Activities:

• Lead our pricing processes – reviewing technical pricing and managing project teams to ensure that our bulk annuity quotations are completed to a high standard.
• Act as a peer reviewer for other project teams.
• Produce and review internal sign off documentation for each quotation, ensuring results are communicated clearly, outlining all material areas of judgement and limitations.
• Present these to governance committees as necessary.
• Produce and review quotation documents to be issued externally, working with the DB Commercial team to ensure that our propositions are market leading.
• Ensure audit trails are maintained on every transaction and that our risk and control processes are adhered to.
• Assist with the development and refinement of pricing models and processes – through building, reviewing, testing and deploying updates.
• Work with other DB teams and business units on new propositional features, considering all technical and operational elements.
