Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around 700,000 of whom are institutional customers.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Capital Reporting Actuary to join us. We’re offering a competitive salary, great benefits, and the opportunity to play a key role in delivering accurate, insightful, and timely Solvency II Capital Reporting for our Institutional Retirement division.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, purpose-driven team where your actuarial expertise will help support informed decision-making, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to our long-term financial sustainability.

If you’re motivated by meaningful work, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to make a difference within a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a hybrid working opportunity, allowing you to split your working week flexibly between your home and our London office in Moorgate, helping you achieve a work-life balance that works for you.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing the quarterly and ad-hoc production, validation, and analysis of Solvency II SCR results.
  • Leading analysis of internal model performance, including methodology changes, calibrations, and impact assessments.
  • Collaborating closely with Finance, Risk, Group Actuarial, and governance committees to present capital insights.
  • Planning and prioritising reporting activities, allocating resources, and ensuring delivery timelines are met.
  • Driving change initiatives by supporting enhancements to actuarial processes, methodologies, and modelling capability.
  • Developing and maintaining robust reporting systems, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supporting wider business needs through the creation of clear, meaningful capital MI and commentary.
  • Coaching and guiding junior team members to support their development and foster a high-performing culture.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Qualified Actuary with relevant life insurance experience.
  • Strong Solvency II knowledge, including reporting metrics, SCR, and matching adjustment.
  • Ability to apply analytical judgement to review results, identify trends, and challenge assumptions.
  • Ability to communicate technical insights clearly to stakeholders with varied levels of expertise/knowledge.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence effectively across peers, teams, and committees.
  • Experience of process review, automation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience using modelling tools such as VBA or R to support analysis and model development.
  • A flexible, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Benefits

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you.

  • Competitive Salary.
  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes.
  • Generous pension contribution.
  • Life assurance.
  • Healthcare Plan.
  • 27 days holiday, plus public holidays, with the option to buy and sell holiday.
  • Competitive family leave.
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax-efficient salary sacrifice.
  • Discounts for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online.

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all. If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences.

Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing, you will be empowered through initiatives that support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time, and job shares.

Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential, and connection to our purpose.
