AVP Actuary R&D Specialist
Job Description
Responsible for writing white papers on relevant industry and SCOR hot topics, and presenting findings to clients and within the company. Key topics include mortality and lapse trends, product trends, regulatory, underwriting, and other relevant industry insights.
The role will be expected to develop and maintain monitoring of new business performance, industry tracking, SCOR metrics, and client performance and benchmarking. It will also be integrated into experience analysis work to ensure an in-depth knowledge of the key topics to be presented.
The position will liaise across teams to develop a common understanding of SCORβs view and assist with expert presentations and white papers used by the global Knowledge team.
Responsibilities
- Combine comprehensive research on the Individual and Group Life, and Annuity industry with a clear understanding of ongoing work within SCOR, focusing on mortality, lapse trends, product trends, regulatory, underwriting, and other relevant insights.
- Develop and maintain monitoring of emerging industry experience, New Business performance, and participate in relevant Experience Analysis projects, working closely with Client Solutions, Pricing, Underwriting, and Data Analytics teams to integrate their data and analyses.
- Develop market-ready materials for delivery to clients as white paper research or client presentations.
- Assist experts on different teams with the development of internal Knowledge sharing and communication.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate research findings to clients and within SCOR.
- Develop and maintain processes to track industry experience, new business performance, and ongoing Experience Analysis or SCOR initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and industry developments to ensure the relevance and accuracy of research.
- Present or support the presentation of research findings and white papers to clients, providing expert insights and recommendations on relevant industry hot topics.
- Participate in industry conferences and seminars to stay informed about the latest trends and developments.
- Support client solutions and pricing actuaries in discussions with clients on our digital solutions, underwriting solutions, and mortality and data analytics expertise.
- Engage with clients to better understand the market and identify needed solutions or adjustments to existing solutions.
- Serve as a liaison across a broad cross-section of teams in the US to coordinate topics of interest and suggest offerings to ensure they meet client needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- ASA required, FSA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Individual Life and annuity industry, Group Life, reinsurance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in writing white papers and presenting to clients.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards in the Individual Life and annuity sector.
Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position.

SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely.
Pay Range: for roles performed in NC: $162,000-$220,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including location, experience, role, and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees.
