Actuarial Consultant

As a Consultant in this role, you will work as a member of several project teams supporting clients on a wide variety of engagements covering topics such as pricing and reserving for P&C products, behavioural analytics, price optimization, and implementation of machine learning algorithms for various topics including pricing, underwriting, claims, and reserving.

The Role
You will:
- Contribute and/or lead varied and interesting projects such as pricing for P&C risk, price optimization, competitive market analysis, claims analytics, and reserving.
- Develop a strong understanding of the P&C pricing and reserving process, become familiar with the various steps needed to prepare data for modelling, and be able to manipulate large datasets.
- Work collaboratively with other associates, consultants, or clients to determine data needs, examine obtained client information, and perform any follow-up work required to populate complete data sets.
- Seek and participate in key learning and development opportunities; maintain steady progress through actuarial exams will be a plus.
- Prepare the first draft of models for review by senior pricing and reserving experts on the client teams.
- Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations and within deadlines.
- Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes.
- Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPs.
Qualifications
The Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a consulting firm, financial services organization, or insurance firm.
- Academic qualification in the area of actuarial science, financial risk, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or other related discipline.
- Experience in pricing, reserving, or analytics is useful.
- Related experience including developing and projecting actuarial models using actuarial software.
- A problem solver; able to identify and solve challenging problems.
- Analytical; able to draw conclusions from data in a logical, systematic way.
- Conceptual; ability to go beyond the details and see the big picture.
- Results-driven; focused on achieving results that promote business success.
- Fluency in Turkish and English, written and spoken.
- Committed to quality; continuously works to achieve the highest quality standards.
- Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel/VBA.
- Open-source coding skills will be a plus.
- Ability to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Availability to travel on an as-needed basis.
