Description:
- Independently learn to apply fundamental actuarial theories, techniques, and procedures and develop the basic skills required to assist in the preparation of various actuarial analyses.
- May work in valuation/reserving, pricing, product, research/support, business planning, capital/financial modeling.
- Provide support to credentialed actuaries and others by performing analysis within designated business segments.
- Assist in the preparation of actuarial reports and studies.
- Provide clear communication of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understand communication preferences and be flexible to the expectations and ways of communicating to different audiences.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in communicating with colleagues with differing backgrounds.
- Use mathematical and statistical skills to aid in the analysis and synthesis of data to support key initiatives within the department.
- Challenge personal views and actively seek input from others to drive the best possible business outcome.
- Seek to understand, respect, and appreciate different perspectives.
- Make positive progress towards pursuing and passing required actuarial exams.
- Maintain status in the Actuarial Development Program.
- Domestic travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 80%.
Qualifications:
Employer will accept a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience can be gained in a professional or academic setting.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
- Intermediate SAS EG programming.
- Intermediate Python programming.
- Ratemaking Analysis skills.
- Performing Loss Development Analyses.
- Fitting Frequency and Severity Trends.
- Producing Profit Review by Subsegment and Rating Plans.
- Interpreting Reports to Support Rate Filing Strategies.
- On Leveling Premium.
- Reconciling Actuarial Calculations.
- Assisting Underwriters with Pricing Tools.
- Domestic travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 80%.
