Health and Benefits Actuarial Analyst

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Baltimore office.

What the day will look like

  • Enhancing client support by developing strong working relationships with client teams.
  • Analyzing population and claims data to perform demographic and geographic analyses.
  • Preparing financial exhibits and experience monitoring reports for client delivery.
  • Modeling underwriting, projections, and IBNP liabilities using proprietary technology.
  • Developing budget rates and employee contributions across health, dental, and vision plans.
  • Performing experience reviews and trend analyses on client data.
  • Supporting client strategy by benchmarking plan design and cost drivers.
  • Collaborating in the development of presentation materials for client meetings.
  • Coordinating with offshore resources to create client deliverables as needed.

How this opportunity is different

As a Health Solutions Actuarial Analyst, you will provide actuarial and group consulting support for mid-to-large corporate accounts with a focus on analytics to assist the Health Strategies Consultants in servicing existing clients and prospects.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 2+ years of experience in the Insurance Industry, preferably as an Actuary.
  • Experience in a consulting/insurance environment working in group underwriting and group benefits departments preferred.
  • Strong technical skills across Microsoft Office Suite. Must have Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Completion of at least 3 SOA exams, and working towards completion of ASA designation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, a related field, or equivalent years of industry experience.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $80,000 to $95,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
