About the role
As a Model Validation Actuary (GI) at NFU Mutual, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and leading our model validation strategy. You will ensure we remain at the forefront of industry best practice and regulatory compliance.
You’ll also enhance and deliver technical processes that support our long-term objective of sustainable, profitable growth.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Shaping and evolving the internal model validation strategy and validation of other critical business models.
- Leading the delivery of model validation to meet regulatory requirements and providing management information to support senior decision-making.
- Acting as a delegate for the Head of Model Risk on all matters related to model validation and model risk.
- Building influential relationships with key stakeholders and industry bodies.
- Driving continuous professional development and sharing expertise through training on the latest model validation techniques and regulatory expectations.
- Delivering short-term projects and activities as required.
About you
You’re a professionally qualified actuary (FIA or FFA) with a strong background in financial services and model validation for GI products. You combine technical expertise with strategic thinking and a pragmatic, commercial approach.
You’ll bring:
- Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements for internal model approval and governance.
- Experience deploying validation tools and techniques.
- Strong understanding of capital management, reserving methods, and actuarial modelling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders and committees.
- Effective relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A track record of planning and delivering complex actuarial projects.
- Up-to-date knowledge of model risk management, data science, machine learning, and AI.
