Actuary (P&C Reserving)

About the role

Are you ready to join the P&C Actuarial Control team to support P&C reserves oversight? In Risk Management we provide Management and the Board(s) of Directors with assurance that Swiss Re has the resources to meet our obligations and help ensure Swiss Re's profitability and sustainable growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide independent assessment of the P&C reserves under IFRS 17 for a specific region.
  • Support production of quarterly group closing and AvE monitoring materials and provide management with the most current information.
  • Perform 'deep dives' to assess reserving quality for specific portfolios.
  • Implement process improvements by using programming skills, statistical modelling, and data visualization.
  • Have opportunities to grow in other tasks within Actuarial Control.

About the team

P&C Actuarial Control provide senior management and the Board(s) of Directors with an independent assessment of our reserves for both Reinsurance P&C and CorSo. We also support the Group Chief Actuary with the production of quarterly closing material and provide the Risk Modelling team with the P&C parameters for the internal model.

About You

  • Qualified actuary with P&C experience in reserving, pricing, or financial reporting
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, navigate ambiguity and not looking for status-quo
  • Persistent, pragmatic and strive for solutions
  • Ready to jump in teamwork, but also keen to take ownership and work independently
  • Trustworthy and curious to learn
  • Strong academic background with a good foundation in mathematical statistics and numerical methods
  • Experience using programming/scripting languages, e.g., R or Python
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with good spoken and written English
