Actuarial Analyst

Purpose

Support the Head of Internal Model and Senior Actuaries in maintaining and developing the Internal Model used to calculate the regulatory capital requirement for the firm. The role covers all aspects of capital management and modeling, compliance with regulatory standards, and changes in regulatory guidance and emerging industry practice.

Job Role Accountabilities

  • Design, implementation, and documentation of changes planned for the Internal Model
  • Regular risk calibration to ensure assessment of risks meets Solvency II tests and standards
  • Conducting capital impact assessments for Group projects and business initiatives
  • Regular recalibration of key risks such as credit, property, and interest rates
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis to assess the impact of management actions
  • Contribute to responses to PRA requests related to the Internal Model
  • Propose and implement process improvements

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of products and services provided by the Group
  • Understanding of business processes
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Experience of Solvency II as applied to UK life insurers
  • Ability to assess the materiality of issues and determine appropriate courses of action
  • Previous experience of statistical and stochastic models would be an advantage
