Senior Financial Solutions Actuary
Job Description
- Japan is one of the most mature and deepest markets in terms of opportunities for financial solutions. Given the legacy issues and regulatory deficiencies, the regulator is open to solutions that help insurers both from solvency and economically. As a result, all reinsurers have been experiencing good success in Japan.
- Scor has been investing in Japan for the last 9 years and has resulted in very good success.
- To have a sustainable business model and grow strategically, we need to further expand our offerings by understanding our clients' technical challenges. We need a FinSol specialist to be based in Japan with a strong preference for being bilingual in Japanese and English.
Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities
- Define our propositions and develop realistic strategies to achieve our ambitions in Japan.
- Set our risk appetites and work with all related stakeholders to ensure we have alignments between ambitions and risk appetites in Japan.
- Implement our business strategies in Japan, ensuring they are effectively executed, and outcomes are monitored.
Business Development and Strategy Execution
- Work seamlessly with our Japanese colleagues to leverage their strong client connections to identify unexplored needs and pain points of our clients.
- Work with pricing actuaries in the local market on actuarial assumptions in particular Japan, where necessary.
- Work closely with our APAC and global financial solutions teams to research and develop tailor-made solutions to address our clients' needs.
- Focus on brainstorming ideas with our prospects and structuring solutions with our APAC and global teams with the ultimate vision of developing new and unique offerings that help Scor to become a leading provider of financial solutions in Japan.
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years in the financial services industry, particularly in life insurance, life reinsurance, or life consulting.
- Background in accounting standards, solvency regimes, and financial management.
- Strong background in life insurance or reinsurance pricing and risk management is preferred.
Personal Competences
- Project management skills with the ability to effectively manage projects and project team members.
- Highly organized, analytical, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with an aptitude for problem-solving.
- Innovative, creative, and adept at learning new concepts quickly.
Required Education
- Strong finance background, e.g. Qualified Actuary or Accountant or CFA.
- Other qualifications such as CERA would be a plus.
