Actuarial Intern (Inforce Optimization)

Job Description

The Inforce Optimization Intern is part of a team that collaborates to analyze underperforming business and calculate an appropriate rate increase. The intern works closely with other team members to build models supported by close reading of reinsurance treaties. Using actuarial principles, the team sets assumptions and projects the expected performance of the business.

The intern will assist in summarizing background information and rate increase recommendations for governance. The position involves significant work in Microsoft Excel, and also work with PowerPoint and Palantir Foundry.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all projects that inform inforce analytics in a timely manner as assigned by manager.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Prepare standardized project-related reports and PowerPoint presentations to communicate project status, issues, successes, etc.
  • Collaborate with various key stakeholders such as Finance and Legal.
  • Assist team in completing ad hoc requests.
  • Work with Manager and Intern Lead to ensure that all expectations and goals are being met. Ask questions as needed.
  • Comply with all SCOR policies and procedures.
  • Make Final Presentation during Program Wrap-Up.
  • Provide feedback on the program and offer suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree, preferably in Actuarial Science or Mathematics.
  • Passed at least one actuarial exam.
  • Understanding of statistical and mathematical concepts.
  • Competent PC skills (particularly Excel and other Microsoft Office product exposure).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Curiosity - Demonstrate an appetite for learning and growing knowledge. Choose appropriate means for learning from independent research to trial and error to asking for help from a more experienced colleague.
  • Strong communication โ€“ Formulate ideas, express thoughts clearly, ask questions, explain reasoning.
  • Commitment to learn and execute job function. Bring excitement, skill, and insight to every assignment and contribute to the success of the Group.

Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay Range: $26.00 - 28.00 hourly rate. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role, and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees.
