Senior Actuarial Analyst (DB)

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to undertake pricing and actuarial input required to support the DB Business Plan, including BAU delivery and ad hoc requirements.

Job Role Accountabilities

• Support DB Pricing Actuary in accurate and timely delivery of new business quotations.
• Populate and run pricing models to calculate premiums.
• Check drafts of internal sign off documentation for each quotation.
• Check initial drafts of quotation documents to be issued externally.
• Proactively drive projects forward to ensure expected timescales.
• Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB pricing.
• Provide support in ad hoc tasks such as data analysis, proposition developments, and process improvements.
• Assist in the development of junior team members.
• Promote a culture of collaboration and engagement within the DB Pricing team.

Qualifications

Working towards FIA qualification and making good progress with actuarial exams is desirable.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Excel.
• Good interpersonal and team working skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present complex financial concepts clearly.
• Sound knowledge of technical actuarial concepts.
• Good knowledge of the DB buy in/buy out market, life insurance, and relevant regulation.

Experience

Good experience of working within a pensions or investment consultancy, life insurer, or reinsurer. Coding experience is desirable.
