Aon is hiring an

Actuarial Analyst

Life is full of risks, from unexpected hurricanes to earthquakes, terrorism to cybercrime, always ending up with financial impacts. They can't be controlled but can be managed. Join Aon to help our clients manage these risks in the world of reinsurance - a very innovative and international industry, highly developed in global financial centres such as Zurich, London, Bermuda, and Chicago.

Actuarial Analyst

We are searching for an Actuary for our office in Prague (Czech Republic) to work for clients across CEE-MENA (Central and Eastern Europe - Middle-East, North Africa). The position is suitable if you want to start your career as well as if you are planning your next step after a first experience.

Why you should be interested?

In short, we can offer two activities that are not so common for actuaries - stochastic modelling and very diverse work.

  • Diverse work - We are helping insurers in their risk transfer of their business lines and doing things that often insurers are not able to do by themselves. We work for many different clients in CEE-MENA, where every client has a different portfolio, different problems, and therefore our work is very diverse with many opportunities to learn and further develop.
  • Stochastic modelling - We are advising insurers on their risks and we need to see what is happening during extreme events and be able to use risk measures like Value at Risk. Aon developed one of the most used stochastic modelling tools for Non-Life called Remetrica, and all actuaries have access to it. You will make stochastic modelling after a few months in the office and quite often.

The nature of the work is project-oriented, client-focused, and targeted at creative problem solving. You will be exposed to a wide range of insurance and reinsurance products, both traditional and non-traditional.

What the day will look like

  • Work with colleagues (brokers, analytics, and others) to identify and respond to client needs and develop additional opportunities related to products and services.
  • You will perform technical analysis and gain innovative insights into insurance companies, their portfolios, and reinsurance contracts.
  • Inventory and manage client as well as industry data with the aim to further develop market studies (motor insurance, inflation development, etc.) and develop our internal tools.
  • Analyse the costs and benefits of risk transferred under reinsurance agreements via pricing analysis and dynamic risk modelling (mainly using collective risk model, various distribution fitting techniques for frequencies and severities).
  • Assist in preparing client-ready presentations to communicate analysis results to brokers and clients.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • University degree in actuarial sciences (mathematics applied to insurance) at the master’s level.
  • 1-5 years of experience as an actuary in a non-life insurer/reinsurer/consulting firm is an advantage.
  • Proficient knowledge of English.
  • Proactive and result-oriented working style.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems, think creatively and analytically.
  • Team player mentality, while building constructive and effective working relationships.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office) are required; programming skills (R, VBA, Python, etc.) are a plus.

What we offer

  • Exciting and varied role in the very international reinsurance industry.
  • Training in our sophisticated methods, including Remetrica, our stochastic modelling tool.
  • Opportunity to work for the world market leader.
  • Competitive salary and attractive benefits package including pension scheme contributions, language courses, and high-quality working conditions in our modern offices in the city center.
  • Possibility of flexible working.

Please note applications are available for candidates with a valid work permit in the Czech Republic.
