The Team You Will Join

This position reports to the Vice President of Life Products, which is a part of MetLife's Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) line of business. This is a leadership position within the Specialized Benefit Resources (SBR) group, which provides products and solutions across Corporate and Bank-Owned Life Insurance (COLI/BOLI) markets.

This individual will assume management and oversight for a team responsible for product development, underwriting, illustrations to meet sales goals, and managing the inforce block of business to achieve financial targets.

The Opportunity

The AVP for SBR is responsible for leading and executing the vision and strategy to ensure profitable growth and achieve financial targets. This role will partner and collaborate with various disciplines including investments, pricing, finance, actuarial, and other technical units in developing, refining, and implementing new business.

The AVP will also be responsible for developing term sheets and negotiating elements of MetLife's product offering including pricing, product structure, and terms.

The AVP will be responsible for establishing/refining appropriate market and financial metrics, tracking and reporting, and implementing tactical plans for both new and inforce business focusing on earnings growth.

Success in this role requires strong communication and influencing skills outside of direct reporting lines. The AVP role will engage regularly with senior management, clients, intermediaries, and regulators.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead a team of 4-5 direct reports and 8-10 associates overall with highly specialized subject matter expertise in the COLI/BOLI markets
  • Create comprehensive performance plans and objectives for your team and provide motivational leadership and education
  • Manage activities, planning, performance, and development opportunities while removing barriers to achieving results
  • Develop a diverse staff through coaching, identifying training needs, and building a collaborative culture for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate resources and align goals across functional areas and business partners

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • 10+ years of relevant business experience including finance, actuarial, underwriting, or risk management
  • Strong technical expertise in life insurance products/market solutions
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and negotiation skills required
  • FINRA registration (series 6, 7, or 26) required or ability to obtain within 6 months

What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)

  • Industry designation such as FSA or ASA or graduate degree preferred

The expected salary range for this position is $180K to $215K. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
