The Actuarial & Rating Services team is responsible for defining, delivering, managing and supporting the use of all regulated risk insights associated with Arity’s growing product portfolio. The team works closely with data scientists, product owners, individual state Department of Insurance agencies, and insurance companies to create and deploy innovative insights that make transportation smarter, safer, and more useful for everyone.

Our key customer audience is insurance carriers who will leverage subscription risk insights we bring to market to improve the value in their existing programs and/or create new solutions for consumer needs.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Actuarial Assistant for our Actuarial & Rating Services team. Become part of a team of world-class data scientists, actuaries and analysts dedicated to creating the best insurance telematics solutions in the market.

You will be responsible for developing and leading projects in support of risk insights associated with Arity’s product portfolio utilizing accepted actuarial and statistical standards and methodologies as well as knowledge gained through on-the-job training.

This role collaborates with product owners and data scientists to develop appropriate product strategies of moderate complexity to support business goals and maximize customer value. As a member of the Actuarial & Rating Services team, you will also work closely with external customers and regulators, filing support for our risk insights and providing tailored recommendations for the use of Arity’s risk insights.

Responsibilities

  • Uses best practices to determine appropriate analysis and performs moderate to highly complex analysis, using creative actuarial, statistical and/or predictive modeling techniques, including proper documentation and evaluation, as appropriate to inform business decisions.
  • Leverages understanding of insurance business, products, markets and regulatory environments in the creation of business strategies and decisions, building expertise within a specialized area.
  • Responsible for selecting, reviewing, using and ensuring quality of data used to perform actuarial and statistical services and determination of appropriate tool utilization.
  • Communicates appropriateness of actuarial/modeling techniques and results to management and non-technical users to inform business decisions.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and/or contributes on projects that are moderate to high complexity and are of moderate scale using accepted project management standards; this work is primarily self-directed.
  • Provides thought and/or technical leadership, including contributions to improvement, development and innovation, and sometimes serves as a subject matter expert.

Qualifications

  • Aptitude for product-focused actuarial support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree in related field of study such as actuarial science, math/applied math, statistics/applied statistics, data science.
  • 3 or more years of industry experience in actuarial, data science or related roles preferred with property and casualty insurance pricing or modeling experience.
  • Pursuit or achievement of ACAS/FCAS designation.
  • Advanced product, price, risk management and insurance regulation knowledge, including professional standards of actuarial/statistical techniques.
  • Advanced project management skills to independently handle multiple projects of high complexity.
  • Aptitude for manipulating large, complex data sets.
  • Solid understanding of principles of predictive analytics and experience leading the evaluation and application of predictive models to generate measurable business value.
