Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the actuarial functions for the company
  • Manage all actuarial staff and development
  • Manage external actuarial resources, as necessary
  • Manage internal risks appropriately and ensure sufficient coverage over actuarial functions
  • Responsibility for audit compliance of the actuarial functions
  • Drive process improvement by the development and maintenance of actuarial best practices
  • Direct the prioritization of projects and requirements among competing business interests
  • Evaluate books of business to project ultimate loss levels and estimate reserves
  • Present modeling results to Credit Committee to assist in analyzing potential tail risk to SNC
  • Develop and deliver modeling and exposure measures
  • Examine reinsurance programs
  • Complete trend and loss ratio analyses
  • Communicate results of analyses with Executive Management and provide actuarial advice and counsel
  • Monitor performance of both the fronted business and the collateral protection insurance business
  • Design, develop and enhance complex actuarial models
  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements
  • Complete ad hoc actuarial analyses that are of an advanced nature
  • Support Business Development team in the analysis of new programs opportunities

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Business or similar specialized field

Certification

  • ACAS or FCAS designation required

Work Experience/Skill Set

  • Minimum of 10 years of Actuary experience
  • 7 + years of demonstrated leadership in complex/matrix environments
  • Commercial insurance experience strongly preferred with reinsurance experience a plus
  • Experience doing advanced analysis with limited data and supplementing with industry data
  • SQL and R programming experience a plus
  • Capable and comfortable handling executive level communications
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across the enterprise
  • Team player with analytical, quantitative and leadership abilities
  • Proven ability to manage projects that require advance knowledge of actuarial methods and process implementation/improvements.
  • Ability to manage ad hoc requests that have tight timelines while continuing to make progress on long-term projects
  • Highly flexible with the ability to shift focus quickly from one project to another while maintaining accuracy
  • Outstanding oral, written communication and interpersonal skills and excellent presentation skills
  • Aptitude to lead and develop actuarial team members
  • Must be located in proximity of the Bedford, TX office
