KPMG is hiring an

Actuarial Consultant (Public Service Pensions)

KPMG's Pensions is an exciting initiative to re-establish the pensions team, with a focus on public service pensions advisory and revenue growth. We are seeking a talented and experienced Consultant to join our pensions actuarial team. Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic journey planning, risk management, and endgame options
  • Strategic funding advice and compliance with DB funding code
  • Pension due diligence on mergers and acquisitions
  • Member education, benefit change advice, and good governance
  • Pensions accounting advice

Description of the Role:

  • Understanding defined benefit pension schemes and actuarial liability calculations
  • Analyzing client data using actuarial techniques
  • Producing technical actuarial work in line with standards
  • Supporting day-to-day running of cases and end-to-end tasks
  • Developing specialist technical knowledge

Technical core competencies required for the role:

  • Technical knowledge: Understands relevant actuarial, accounting, and financial reporting standards
  • Technology skills: Uses innovative technology solutions to increase productivity
  • Professional scepticism: Applies objectivity and independence to actuarial work
  • Documentation: Completes documentation demonstrating a focus on quality

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Experience in pensions actuarial at an employee benefit consultancy or Big 4 firm
  • Basic knowledge of pension scheme valuations and actuarial techniques
  • Understanding of the UK pensions landscape
  • IT literate with experience in MS Office tools
