Senior Actuarial Manager

Salary London circa £115,000, National circa £100,000

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong actuary to gain exposure to Aviva’s capital model, engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including the PRA.

A bit about the job:

You will be responsible for helping to ensure the Internal Model remains fit for purpose. You will help facilitate the calculation of the Group solvency capital requirements through the development of methodologies used in capital calculations (e.g. Internal Model SCR, Standard Formula SCR, Partial Internal Model SCR) and help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will have the opportunity to build and further develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including BU Actuarial Function teams, regulators and other Group teams (particularly Group Actuarial, Group Reporting and Internal Model Independent Validation).

Key features of the role include:

  • Leading all aspects of Internal Model Methodology developments including, agreeing scope of changes with stakeholders, presenting changes to Expert Panels, drafting updates to Methodology papers, presenting updates to the Group Chief Actuary prior to their sign off, liaising with IMIV and responding to queries from the PRA
  • Working with M&A team to provide SME input on the SCR treatment of potential M&A initiatives
  • Interpreting changes to Solvency 2 requirements to ensure that Aviva’s SCR calculations remain compliant
  • Helping to maintain the Group’s Internal Model and Standard Formula SCR manuals
  • Providing SME input to teams across the Group in the calculation and interpretation of SCR results

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • We are looking for a qualified actuary with strong technical capabilities
  • Knowledge of Solvency 2 requirements is essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in coding
  • A good communicator who is able to understand actuarial concepts well and convey them clearly and concisely
  • Proactive approach and track record of delivering high quality results in tight timescales

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Starting salary between circa £100,000 and £115,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
