Sr Portfolio Steering Actuarial Analyst

About the Role: Position summary & Main tasks/activities

The candidate will be responsible to support the team on new business steering of key global L&H portfolios. It requires strong business acumen, technical ability, agility, stakeholder management skills as well as strategic mindset.

Major responsibilities are to support the team to:

  • Work with various databases to extract and analyze data on financial performance and business plan.
  • Co-ordinate and drive implementation of relevant strategic priorities and global new business steering activities
  • Collaborate with the L1 portfolio owner to drive the global portfolio strategy and with the L2 owners in their respective markets to monitor and steer the portfolio.
  • Drive steering KPIs under IFRS regime.
  • Understand financial performance and market characteristics of portfolio.
  • Support the strategic direction of each line of business and articulate clearly in the Strategic Plan; define clear risk appetite and optimal portfolio mix.
  • Provide input into annual business plan with iterative adjustments to meet margin, total profitability, and top line targets; incorporates TLP input.
  • Collaborate with LHPC to define margins for each MU and specific markets.
  • Establish and maintain a proactive approach to setting and monitoring Margin Management requirements, ensuring cohesion with Plan, Risk Appetite and Mortality Capacity management.
  • Drive capacity limit setting annually with regular monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • Passed at least 4-6 actuarial papers
  • Experience of 5+ years in L&H Reinsurance pricing or valuation. Understanding of Swiss Re financial metrics and EVM guidelines will be a plus
