Swiss Re is hiring a
P&C Actuarial Intern (Summer 2026)
Launch your career with impact in the dynamic world of (re)insurance. At Swiss Re, we help make the world more resilient by tackling risks that matter, from natural catastrophes to cyber threats and beyond.
Our Summer Internship program is designed to provide students with a valuable combination of on-the-job training and off-the-job learning opportunities. As an intern, you will work on meaningful projects, participate in industry-relevant training, and build connections through social and networking events. We believe a Swiss Re internship is more than a summer job; it is the first step toward a rewarding career.
About the Role
Join Swiss Re’s Casualty Portfolio Analytics and Steering team! As part of the US Casualty Pricing Team, you’ll help evaluate some of Swiss Re’s most complex US Casualty treaties. We blend deep actuarial expertise with innovative approaches to pricing and risk assessment.
Our passion lies in uncovering trends, leveraging data-driven insights, and translating our findings into actionable solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes. We are a dynamic, collaborative group that embraces challenges, champions innovation, and sets new standards for excellence in US Casualty pricing and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a research project using the data already collected by the company and potentially integrating forward-looking predictive analysis where no prior data is available.
- Automate data collection and processing using programming tools.
- Analyze trends and develop insights from internal and external data sources.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of pricing models and tools.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate aspiring to a career in the (re)insurance actuarial, analytics, and underwriting disciplines.
About You
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Passed at least one actuarial exam (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Programming experience (Python strongly preferred; other languages considered).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Pivot Tables and Macros a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The internship base salary will be $20-$30 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, projected graduation year, and/or highest degree held.
