Head of L&H Pricing

About the Role

In this role of Head of L&H Pricing Hong Kong and Taiwan, you will be leading a team of 6 members based in Hong Kong and closely work with Swiss Re's Pricing Services team located in Bangalore. You will take responsibility for product development and pricing of new Life & Health business in Hong Kong and Taiwan, to help the region achieve its ambitious growth plans.

We aim to do this through better client experience; cutting-edge, better-informed pricing; and supporting development of innovative products for clients in the region. The role reports into the Market Head L&H Hong Kong & Taiwan and is part of the Market Unit Asia ex. China.

Major Responsibilities

• Leadership
• Drive and manage the team's short and medium term priorities
• Support the development your team
• Be accountable for the business written in Hong Kong and Taiwan in accordance to the company standards and delivery of market plan
• Lead and contribute to regional projects

New Business Quotes and Tenders

• Lead the pricing and modelling of new business, supported by junior pricing colleagues; this includes the authority to sign-off on quotes in HK and TW across mortality, critical illness and medical reimbursement business
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of experts from client markets, underwriting and claims towards assessing the risks associated with a particular opportunity and ensure the sustainability of the business written

Costing Methodology and Guidelines

• Develop pricing guidelines and ensure their correct application
• Able to challenge status-quo and look to simplify and improve existing practices
• Keep up to date with market, regulatory and competitive trends
• Work with Experience Studies team to gain insight into claims and lapse experience
• Ensure pricing guidelines are kept up-to-date via research and experience studies

Strategy, Product Development and Brand Presence

• Lead technical, research and project management input for product development initiatives
• Represent Swiss Re in Hong Kong & Taiwan's actuarial community and expand the company's network
• Further the Swiss Re brand across the region through speaking at seminars/conferences and writing of articles in industry publications
• Provide strategic inputs in the running of the Swiss Re business in HK and TW including implications of regulations, market and industry developments

About You

• Qualified actuary with 5-10 years PQE minimum (under a recognized actuarial body - SOA/CAS/IOA/FOA/FIA) with a Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or equivalent

• Insurance or reinsurance working experience (including consulting); pricing experience of the HK market is strongly desirable

• Proven commercial and technical skills in Life & Health product design and pricing

• Demonstrate maturity and flexibility at managing both internal and external stakeholders

• Experience at using and developing pricing tools, is a plus

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Cantonese and English. Mandarin skills are desirable.
