Senior Actuarial Consultant (Reserving & Tyche)

People Manager role: Yes

Required education and certifications critical for the role:

  • Graduate, numerate degree preferred such as Mathematics / Statistics / Economics
  • Qualified, or part qualified actuary. (Knowledge of SP7 and SP8 exam is must)

Required experience for the role:

  • Minimum work experience of 7 years in Consulting or Insurance companies, Of this, a minimum of 4 years’ experience in P&C reserving (GAAP, Solvency II, IFRS)
  • People Management experience, leading a team of 2-3 resources and taking ownership of the delivery of the team.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE BUSINESS

STG is Aon’s new global consulting and technology business focused on, but not limited to, insurance and reinsurance companies and other participants in the insurance industry. The business provides strategy consulting, technology solutions and advisory services to many of the most prestigious companies in Global (Re)insurance. Aon’s software platform, Tyche, is used by some of the largest life, non-life, composite and pension firms worldwide, which benefit from the ground-breaking capabilities that Tyche gives them.

Having successfully implemented Tyche solutions to clients for reserving purposes, we now need additional resources like you to bolster our existing team for a market-changing actuarial model development project. Our objective is that our clients will be able to run their entire reserving process in one end-to-end reserving system in Tyche.

JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a key member of our team you will play a vital role in meeting the expectations of our clients through leading and managing teams of Consultants who are delivering high quality cutting-edge reserving solutions via the adoption of Aon’s Tyche Reserving System (TRS). This role will encompass a wide variety of work. Initially, you can expect to be involved with the following:

  • Reserving system development. This will involve managing and overseeing development work by liaising with clients to gather business requirements, designing, implementing and reviewing the solution, and developing automated testing frameworks.
  • Sales support. Supporting the sales process for Tyche and TRS through proof of concept exercises and trials.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Managing and overseeing development work from a technical business perspective
  • Liaising with clients to gather business requirements
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team to design, implement, and review actuarial system developments
  • Supporting and training users of our systems
  • Supporting the sales process through proof of concept exercises and trials
  • There will also be the opportunity to get involved in helping support the career development and growth of other actuarial team members through line management and mentoring responsibilities.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • A self-motivated team player that works collaboratively
  • Good communicator with the ability to adapt to suit different audiences, and good at building relationships
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of overseeing the delivery of and/or developing actuarial tools
  • Experience of coding, Python or SQL are desirable
  • Exemplify analytical and problem-solving skills
