Director/Actuary (Retirement Strategies/PRT Pricing)

The Director, Actuary role on the Retirement Strategies US Funded PRT Pricing team is a position that plays a key part in the overall pricing execution and infrastructure development of Prudential's rapidly growing US Pension Risk Transfer Business.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead financial modeling and pricing execution for US Funded PRT transactions.
  • Supervise highly motivated and talented quantitative professionals to achieve aggressive business growth goals.
  • Collaborate with business and corporate leaders to determine and implement optimal pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability, while ensuring compliance with Enterprise Pricing Standards.
  • Collaborate with matrix partners to manage Pricing team capacity.
  • Lead the effort in expanding team capabilities in evaluating complex pension plan provisions.
  • Analyze population and pension plan specific experience data to determine mortality and other demographic assumptions used in Funded transactions.
  • Provide timely, accurate and insightful pricing analytics to facilitate confident decision-making and to achieve business goals.
  • Support internal efforts to secure necessary approvals both from Prudential Retirement Strategies' leaders and other governing bodies across the Prudential Enterprise.

What you'll need:

  • ASA (EA or FSA Preferred) with 5 plus years of strong actuarial experience (product development, pricing, valuation, GAAP/Stat reporting, financial modeling, asset-adequacy testing, asset/investment/hedging/risk modeling, etc)
  • Deep background in US pension plans deferred life provisions
  • Working knowledge of Python (e.g. pandas, numpy, sqlalchemy, plotly/dash, xlwings) strongly preferred; knowledge of other coding languages is not required but would be welcomed
  • Having investment/ALM experience a big plus
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in presenting results to senior executives
  • Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple urgent priorities
  • Creative problem-solver, particularly in areas with very little clarity or precedence
  • Mortality underwriting experience preferred but not required
  • Highly motivated and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Fast learner and ability to work in a highly collaborative, multi-functional team
