Actuarial Expert (P&C Reinsurance)

Job Purpose/ Role

We are looking for a P&C Actuarial Expert to join our Corporate Actuarial team at Allianz Re, the Allianz Group’s global “in-house” reinsurance company based in Munich, Germany.

Reporting to the Head of P&C Reserving Munich, you would be part of a small, friendly and professional team, fully integrated with all aspects of the quarterly and annual reporting processes for IFRS17. After the successful go-live of IFRS 17 in 2023, you will play a key role in delivering and explaining figures to our stakeholders and help shaping our actuarial analyses in the new framework.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform P&C reserving on IFRS 4 / IFRS 17 basis for a global reinsurance company
  • Focus on delivering quarterly IFRS 17 figures via company-built tool
  • Drive further integration of IFRS 17 into existing processes and systems
  • Improve the existing IFRS 17 processes further and create new ways and tools that support the analysis of our portfolio
  • Communicate with external auditors and regulators if needed
  • Provide business functions with actuarial insights / build relationships with UW and client management

Qualifications

  • Close to complete actuarial fellowship qualification of a renowned actuarial profession
  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field
  • Advanced command of written and spoken English is required; German is an advantage

Experience & Key skills

  • Experience in IFRS 4/17 reserving in a global P&C reinsurance environment (3+ years)
  • Good understanding of the concept of IFRS17 with practical experience
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Programming and database experience (SAS, SQL) is key
  • Strong MS Excel skills including advanced functionalities (VBA, PowerQuery)
  • Self-directed, organised and willing to work under time pressure when necessary
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment
