Actuarial Intern (12 Months)

We aim to build a fully automated production process that continuously updates valuation results with the latest actuarial assumption and cedent data. The team will be working with experts from different business areas and specializations to deliver the benefits of real-time financial updates, reduced work effort and increase in value-added analysis.

About the role

This is a one-year intern role based in London. We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join as an Actuarial Intern. In this role you will help shape the future of financial reporting in L&H Reinsurance at Swiss Re. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a successful team across a varied reinsurance business.

You will be working as an Actuarial Intern in the Global Actuarial Systems and Process team alongside qualified actuaries and other actuarial students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Making actuarial (e.g. assumptions) and business recommendations based upon data analysis
  • Contributing to improving the efficiency and quality of reinsurance reporting processes.
  • Working with actuarial colleagues to find opportunities for improvements, alignment of processes across the business, as we developing pragmatic solutions to business problems.
  • Working with other business functions - including Finance, Products, other project teams, IT and others – recognizing much of work requires collaboration.

About you

  • Graduate degree in quantitative discipline and desire to pursue actuarial qualification or partly qualified actuary
  • Analytical and inquisitive in your approach to problem solving.
  • Willing to learn and take ownership of your areas of responsibility.
  • A good team player, willing to support the team to meet changing priorities and requirements. Able to build effective work relationships with colleagues in other teams and across technical fields.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver good results in time.
  • Can communicate clearly and explain the rationale logically.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in Excel
