The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced actuary looking to grow their career in the E&S Property space! The purpose of this role is to provide expert actuarial advice to business units, ensuring technical excellence in business planning, and deep dives into portfolio segments.
Additionally, the role involves developing relationships with key stakeholders, coaching student actuaries, and supporting the actuarial manager as needed. The role also includes taking ownership of relationships with program managers, underwriters, claims, and finance representatives, and providing professional guidance on reserving advice, business planning, and portfolio analysis.
Location: WI – Sun Prairie, GA - Atlanta, NY – New York City, IL - Chicago
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
The salary range for this role depends on experience and location.
Atlanta, GA and Sun Prairie, WI: $120,000 - $180,000
Chicago, IL: $132,000 - $198,000
New York City, NY: $150,000 - $225,000
Your new role
- Provide actuarial pricing analysis to deliver profitable growth for the Property business units. This includes development of pricing tools, portfolio analysis, and contributions towards reinsurance strategy and business planning.
- Partner with the Program Management, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, CAT Modeling, and Data Science teams to ensure actuarial analysis incorporates business insight.
- Develop solutions to proactively ensure ongoing profitability of products.
- Maintain quality controls and standards throughout processes.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret data independently to support business decisions.
- Take ownership of key stakeholder relationships and meet their needs.
- Able to develop and modify complex actuarial models.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of professionals, including mentoring.
- Identify new opportunities for actuarial analysis and drive efficiencies.
- Present clear and well-organized analyses to appropriate audiences.
Work Experience:
Necessary Work Experience includes:
- 5 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Work Experience includes:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Actuarial analyses and predictive modeling experience.
- Increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong experience in Commercial Property Pricing.
- Experience in wider actuarial disciplines.
- Stakeholder management experience.
- Experience working with computer systems and software such as Microsoft Excel, SAS, SQL, PowerBI, R, and Python.
Qualifications:
Necessary Qualifications include:
- Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications include:
- Associate-Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS)
- Actuarial degree or degree in other mathematically focused area.
Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
