Actuarial Team Manager

Actuarial Team Manager - Salary up to £65k depending on qualifications and experience

A vacancy has arisen for an Actuarial Team Manager to join the Aviva business on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an actuarial background (ideally within Life Insurance) that is looking to become an integral part of this team.

You will be responsible overseeing the management and delivery of timely and accurate calculations. To be effective you will need to learn fast and become familiar with many products and calculation methods. You will be responsible for providing audit trails for your team's work and deliver work that has strong governance and controls.

You will need to communicate within the team to ensure correct processes/calculations are being followed and monitor progress to ensure successful delivery. You will also need to communicate with our stakeholders in the wider business, including internal and third-party admin teams.

You will be accountable for ensuring the correct method and calculations are used when providing values to other internal teams within Aviva. You will need to decide if the information presented to you is sufficient and calculations are accurate - If these are incorrect this could create incorrect pay-outs and brand reputation.

Work on the team is both long-term and short-term in nature - You will need to be able to plan effectively to manage short-term deliverables, such as queries, alongside progressing longer-term deliverables, such as updates to calculation tools, process developments and projects.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Understanding of with-profits business preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and good MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload with business objectives.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Teamwork is key due to nature of the role.

  • Salary up to £65k (depending on skills, experience and qualifications).
