Join HSB’s expanding pricing team and make a difference by providing actuarial pricing and thought partnership for HSB’s commercial equipment breakdown and renewable energy products. You will use actuarial and statistical methods to deliver proactive insights and innovative solutions to empower our business. This includes developing rates and forecasts, identifying key trends, and recommending strategic responses to drive business outcomes.

In addition, you will develop coverage enhancements and product strategies in collaboration with HSB’s underwriting, claims, and engineering units.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related fields requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis; alternatively, equivalent work experience.
  • Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society required. FCAS preferred.
  • Six (6) or more years of (re)insurance/actuarial work experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of standard actuarial models and techniques, particularly around pricing in the personal and commercial lines markets.
  • Understanding of client and market dynamics, as well as the regulatory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of primary and non-traditional reinsurance/alternative markets, and of insurance company processes and functions.
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficient in actuarial modeling software used for reserving, ratemaking, pricing, modeling stochastic distributions, or data analysis. Strong programming skills are preferred.
  • High attention to detail and reliability to deliver high-quality results. Self-driving and proactive.
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to coordinate, influence, and direct resources outside the department.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to apply judgment and problem-solving skills to address complex significant issues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with internal stakeholders and external clients and create acceptance for proposals.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop positive relationships in the organization.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where change is the only constant.
