GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
Actuarial analyst, to perform data, actuarial, and computing tasks.
- Prepare regular (monthly or quarterly) financial reporting packages for clients.
- Assist in collecting and completing data input for various financial models such as Incurred but Not Reported Claims model, Actuarial Value Plan Model, and Pricing Models (both in Excel and in our Actuarial Modeling Suite).
- Analyze ad hoc data using advanced functions in Excel and effectively communicate findings with both internal U.S. client teams and external stakeholders.
- Conduct ad-hoc projects as needed using appropriate resources (e.g., plan changes, self-funded vs. fully insured analysis).
- Prepare financial exhibits to support client reports and correspondence.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of group systems, products, and technology, and have a thorough understanding of how these relate to group insurance consulting.
- Develop client-specific knowledge to deliver on the valuation and other consulting support services.
- Independently review the technical results from the base data, establish reasonableness, reliability of checks, and ensure proper audit trails.
- Demonstrate a clear, logical approach to reviewing significant technical pieces of work with proper documentation and root cause analysis of areas of concern.
- Demonstrate a very good understanding of all aligned processes and be able to mentor and provide insights to clients.
- The process involves analysis of healthcare products data provided by vendors and onshore consultants pertaining to premium, claims, and plan attributes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Management – Manage projects end to end with focus on Quality of Delivery and Process Efficiency. Track and control project timelines, resource allocation, identify and mitigate risks, and accountable for communication management.
- Educate and train colleagues to allow them to complete valuations independently. Reviews work and provides constructive, developmental feedback.
- Reviews all work for accuracy and reasonability, and ensures that all results are client ready.
- Handles most questions from the client when the AM/PM is not available and likely to start the Activity Manager Role.
- Provides final client deliverables along with relevant options that include drafting the emails as well.
- Active participation in the weekly manager meetings and effectively communicates concerns with the management.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Advanced level of English (both written and verbal).
- Undergraduate degree (majors such as mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or engineering are generally preferred). Post graduate studies are desirable.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in actuarial work, insurance, consulting, or other analytically centric environments.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work product.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with Data Analysis.
