Group Actuarial Manager

Salary: National between £50,000 - £70,000, London between £65,000 - £85,000

We are currently recruiting for a Group Actuarial Manager to join our Group Finance Actuarial team to contribute to the fulfilment of the requirements of the Actuarial Function as defined by the Solvency II regulations in Article 48 and in accordance with Aviva’s Actuarial Charter.

If you’re highly numerate and naturally inquisitive - likely to be a qualified Actuary or equivalent with experience, this role could be ideal for you and we would love to hear from you!

This is truly an amazing opportunity that will provide you with the prospect to develop your skills/experience. The role offers the opportunity to work co-operatively and closely with senior stakeholders in all of the Group’s General Insurance (GI) business units, as well as alongside a dynamic and senior team of Actuaries in Group Finance. You will be given the opportunity to be involve with different projects, working in different GI business areas (property, motor, latents, London market, etc) across Ireland, UK and Canada.

You will undertake reserve reviews including: liaising with the global GI actuarial community; requesting and analysing data on a quarterly basis; production of independent reserve reviews for all GI markets on rolling bi-annual cycle; contributing to group guidance on IFRS and Solvency II methodology; the oversight of locally developed methodologies relevant to the determination of the IFRS and Solvency II technical provisions. Along with developing the GI reserving dashboard using Python and R to ensure reserve information from business units is analysed and presented effectively using the latest machine learning techniques.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A qualified Actuary or equivalent by experience, with good communication and stakeholder skills
  • Good analytical skills with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a fluid and multi-disciplinary team. Can contribute your unique insights within a diverse team, bringing the best out in others and letting them bring the best out in you
  • Good understanding of the UK and Ireland GI markets, and some experience of GI business
  • Experience with one or more of these packages is desirable - ResQ, AIM, Python or R
